A North Carolina man is accused of holding a 24-year-old woman and her baby captive in his home for more than a month and forcing the mother to be his sex slave.
James Bryan Peterson, 54, was arrested last week after he allegedly kidnapped the woman and her eight-month-old child from outside their home in his utility truck on July 4.
The mother and her baby were finally rescued after she managed to call 911 on August 9 to say they were being held against their will in Peterson’s home in Willard.
Police said the woman was forced to be a sex slave for Peterson during the month she was held captive.
In addition to sexually assaulting her, Peterson allegedly used a taser to shock her repeatedly and threatened her with a gun.
Authorities said the woman and her child are now safe.

Peterson was initially charged with two counts of assault on a female, one count of sexual battery and one count of assault by pointing a gun.
He was released from Pender County Jail a day after his arrest after posting his $20,000 bond.
Police then executed a search warrant on his home and re-arrested him.
He has now also been charged with human trafficking, kidnapping, involuntary servitude, sexual servitude and felonious restraint.
Peterson is currently being held on a $2 million bond.
Police said they are still investigating.
