Man, 25, is arrested for FIVE murders after his ex-lover, 19, her boyfriend and her family were shot dead in slaughter at Austrian ski resort

  • The fatal shootings took place in town of Kitzbuehe, Austria, at 4am on Sunday
  • He shot her father at the door before killing her mother and brother in their beds
  • He then climbed over an outside balcony to reach his ex-girlfriend’s bedroom
  • Soon after the killings he turned himself into police and confessed

A man has been arrested for murder after his ex-lover, her boyfriend and her family were shot dead at a ski resort. 

The five fatal shootings took place in the quiet ski town of Kitzbuehe, Austria, at around 4am on Sunday.

The 25-year-old suspect had apparently turned up at the chalet, which belonged to his ex-girlfriend’s father, in an attempt to speak to her.

But her father opened the door and turned him away.

Having been unsuccessful, it is thought that he then went to retrieve his brother’s pistol from his own home and returned a short time later. 

He shot his ex-girlfriend’s father as he opened the door to the house for a second time before allegedly shooting her older brother and mother as they slept in their beds.

Police say that the assailant was impeded when he found the adjoining door to his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, which was linked to the family home, was locked.

He was allegedly forced to climb over an outdoor balcony to reach his ex-lover and partner before shooting the pair dead. 

Soon after he turned himself into police and confessed to the murders.

It is believed that the attack was prompted by a chance meeting between the man and his ex-girlfriend while out late on Saturday night which had led to an argument.

The town of Kitzbuehel sits east of Innsbruck and is known for hosting a famous downhill ski race.
