A man has been arrested in Florida after failing to persuade cops that a disemboweled corpse in his closet was in fact a lifelike blow-up doll.

Jerome Wright, 32, was charged with mutilating a human body after the remains of his girlfriend, 52-year-old Deanna Clendinen, were found in his home.

Cops came to the Northwest Miami-Dade house Wright shares with his mother, Della, after she called 911 to report an overpowering smell coming from her son’s room.

Clendinen’s stomach had been lacerated and her organs removed from her body and dumped in the trash outside the house, CBS Miami reported.

When officers arrived at the home on Friday night to investigate the smell, Wright’s mother led them to her son’s room.

Wright then emerged ‘naked and sweaty’ from his room, police said, and explained he had a stomach ache.

Cops then found body fluids on a mattress before spotting a mutilated corpse in the closet, the Miami Herald reports.

The body was covered in sheets but officers saw a decomposed leg sticking out.

Police said they were looking to charge Wright with murder.

He told police, however, that he had not seen Clendinen in five months.

Wright was arrested last March before being charged with aggravated battery against Clendinen.

An autopsy has been ordered to confirm the cause of her death.
