Initial investigations suggest the fire was deliberately lit and police allege the victim was doused in petrol during the incident.

‘We will allege a 46-year-old man has attended those premises with accelerant, Orana Mid-Western Police District commander Superintendent Peter McKenna told the ABC.

‘He has placed accelerant throughout those premises, and we will allege he has doused a 52-year-old man with that accelerant.’

‘He’s then [alleged to have] set fire to those premises and to that man.’

The ABC has reported that the men are related.

The victim was flown to Concord Hospital where he remains in a critical condition

Henwood was later found at a nearby property and taken to Dubbo Base Hospital for treatment of burns to his hands.

He was later arrested and charged at the Dubbo Police Station.

Henwood was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court on Friday.
