Man charged with sexually assaulting two girls, 15, at organised sex parties

‘Sex party ring’ is exposed as man, 18, is charged with molesting two girls, 15, after ‘wild romps at AirBnb rentals were advertised online’

  •  Two teenage girls were allegedly molested by an 18-year-old man
  •  He allegedly helped to organise pre-planned sex parties at AirBnB
  • Police are urging other potential victims to come forward after arrest

Two teenage girls were allegedly molested by an 18-year-old man after attending organised sex parties.

Police allege the Thornlie man accused of the assaults is also responsible for helping organise the wild parties, which are held at short-term accommodation venues throughout Perth.

Child abuse squad detectives charged the 18-year-old on Thursday as part of an ongoing inquiry into pre-planned parties attended by more than 150 young people recently.

They allege he sexually assaulted the two 15-year-old girls between November 2019 and January 2020.

He was charged with two counts of sexually penetrating a child and one count of aggravated sexual penetration without consent.

The parties where the alleged abuse occurred are reportedly advertised on Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram.

Police are working to establish whether the events are created to specifically target young girls, and have urged other potential victims to come forward.

Acting Sergeant Chantal Killen held a press conference on Thursday where we confirmed the two victims were allegedly sexually assaulted at separate parties within the Cannington district.

Police will allege the teenager who was charged was part of ‘linked associates’ who organised the parties using fraudulent credit cards.

‘The victims have come forward… to feel empowered and to show that they don’t condone this behaviour,’ Acting Sgt Killen said.

‘The parties are advertised online and target … specific ethnic groups and attract a large number of young people,’ police said in a statement issued on Thursday.

Acting Sgt Killen appealed for young people of any ethnicity who felt they were a victim to come forward.

‘Although our investigations have uncovered that it is specific ethnic groups that are being targeted by these event organisers, this kind of behaviour isn’t limited to one specific ethnic group or culture,’ she said.

‘So… we would encourage any victims of sexual assault of any group to come forward and speak to police.’

The 18-year-old man is due to appear before the Armadale Magistrate’s Court on August 18.

Anyone with any information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online.
