Man City stars to earn £1m if they win title and Champions League

  • City favour incentivised deals rather than pool bonuses which are divided later

Manchester City’s players stand to pocket £1million each in bonuses if they complete their charge to the Premier League title – and win the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola’s men are 15 points clear at the top of the table with 10 games left to play and all but sealed their place in the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite club competition with a 4-0 first leg victory in Basle last month.

And while lifting both trophies would complete a treble in only Guardiola’s second season in charge, the silverware would also result in big bonuses for City’s seniors stars at the end of the season.

According to The Sun, the club’s big names will pocket up to £1m each should they follow up domestic glory with a win in the Champions League final on May 26.

Many clubs opt for pool bonuses which are divided among the squad when they achieve something, for example winning a trophy, reaching Europe or avoiding relegation.

However, City chiefs have decided to offer huge financial incentives on top of hefty salaries in a bid to further reward their in-form squad.
