Man is fighting for life after trying to scale down his building like Spiderman in an attempt to get into his apartment

  • Man was locked out of his Adelaide apartment after having a fight with girlfriend
  • He chose to scale down the building using a cable or rope to get back in
  • The 29-year-old then fell 10m to the ground after the rope snapped 

A man is fighting for life after trying to scale down a building to get into his apartment.

The 29-year-old man used a rope to abseil down from the roof of the building, in Whitmore Square, in Adelaide’s CBD, at 5am on Monday morning.

He had been locked out of his Hocking Place apartment after following a row with his girlfriend.

According to South Australia Police, the cable snapped as the man approached the third floor balcony.

He then fell 10m to the ground, landing on concrete and knocking himself unconscious.

Emergency services were called about 5.15am where they found the man lying in a pool of blood.

The man was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

Police believe the incident was a case of ‘misadventure’, The Advertiser reported.

Another man was treated by paramedics for minor injuries after falling inside the building from a landing in the stairwell.
