Man gets own back on Domino’s driver by paying in 1200 2ps

This is the hilarious moment a disgruntled customer paid for his £25 meal at Domino’s pizza with 1,200 2p coins to get revenge on a delivery driver he had a row with.

Billy Martin, 23, dumped exactly 1,287 coppers on the counter to pay for his £25.74 meal of cheese and tomato and mighty meat stuffed crust pizza, potato wedges and Fanta at his local branch of Domino’s.

The father-of-one, of Tamworth, Staffordshire, says he was forced to take drastic action on one particular delivery driver over an outstanding payment.

When Mr Martin ordered his food last week the Domino’s worker drove off before he could hand over the money.

The member of staff claims he thought Mr Martin had already paid online, so left without a second thought.

But the next day, Mr Martin received a string of calls and text messages from the pizza chain, demanding he pay the outstanding amount.

Unfortunately he was unable to make the payment immediately as he going out of town to attend his girlfriend’s grandmother’s funeral and told them he would cough up on his return.

But regardless the delivery driver called him six times before he got home last Sunday.

The 23-year-old claims Domino’s went as far as getting the police involved, who also rang him chasing the payment.

He said: ‘They ruined my weekend so I decided to get my own back and pay the money I owed in 2ps.

‘The whole thing was a nightmare and my girlfriend wasn’t happy that I was spending the day of her grandmother’s funeral on my phone trying to deal with the situation.

‘Every other hour I was on the phone trying to deal with it.’

He explained: ‘I ordered two pizzas, two sides and a drink and it came to £25.74 around 8pm last Thursday.

‘The delivery guy just handed the pizzas over and didn’t say anything except “see you”, I just assumed I’d paid by card online and didn’t think much of it.

‘The Dominos delivery driver first rang to ask for the money two hours later.

‘He said “You’ve not paid so we can come out to you to collect the money or you can come into the store to pay.”

‘It was late and I was about to go to sleep so I explained my situation that I was leaving first thing to go to a funeral and I would be back on Sunday evening so could come in then and pay for the pizza.

‘I even said I’d pay over the phone straight away but they told me that I couldn’t do that.

‘The driver said okay and I thought no more about it but the next day he kept calling.

‘I’d already explained that I was at a funeral but they still persisted to call me, I think they thought that I was lying about where I was.’

To get his own back, Mr Martin went to a local bowling alley where he was able to exchange the £25 for two penny coins.

The police told him they would be ‘taking the matter further’ if he hadn’t paid by Sunday evening – the day he got back from the funeral.

He added: ‘When the police called I spoke to them and they told me that if I didn’t pay for the pizza by Sunday evening they would be taking it further.

‘I took the money in on the Sunday evening like I said I would, but in two pence pieces, I got the money changed at a local bowling alley.

‘I asked for a receipt to prove I’d paid it but they told me I could have a receipt when I paid with proper money. They accepted the payment and I’ve heard no more about it.

‘I’ll never have a Domino’s again, they made me feel like a criminal, and it was their fault.’

A spokesman for Domino’s said: ‘The delivery driver made a mistake when he didn’t take payment at the door. There is an ongoing investigation’
