An Australian Reddit user has got a tattoo of the moment former PM Tony Abbott awkwardly nodded in silence after a reporter asked him a question he didn’t like.

The user, who chose to remain anonymous, took to Reddit on Tuesday to share a photo of the tattoo, which shows the bizarre moment Mr Abbott froze up in 2011.

In the photo, an image of Mr Abbott, who appears to be nervously sweating and trembling, has been permanently etched onto someone’s arm.

Also permanently tattooed onto the person’s skin are the accompanying words: ‘You’re not saying anything, Tony?’

The incredible piece of artwork refers to the moment when political reporter Mark Riley asked Mr Abbott about his comments over the death of a soldier.

The interview came after footage of the former PM discussing the death of Lance Corporal Jared MacKinney was released.

In the footage, Mr Abbott commented to a US soldier that ‘sometimes sh*t happens, doesn’t it?’

He later said the comments were taken out of context, but when Mr Riley asked him to explain the context, the former PM seemingly froze and was dumbfounded.

He stood for 28 seconds in silence while nodding at the reporter, eventually telling Mr Riley he had given him the response he deserved.

When the Reddit user posted the photo, he stated: ‘I got this today, Tony. What do you think?’

The user followed up the initial message by saying: ‘You’re not saying anything, Tony?!?’

The photo of the tattoo garnered plenty of mixed reviews.

‘Hahaha nice mate. Sick line work and shading. Where’d you get it done?’ one person wrote.

‘Why couldn’t you get something more tasteful, like a Eureka flag or tribal tattoo?’ another person said.

A third person added: ‘But why… why give Tony Abbott the satisfaction of being tattooed?’

The user later told Pedestrian the spur-of-the-moment tattoo was done by Alex Yap at Jetty Road Tattoo in Glenelg, Adelaide.

‘It was pretty much just something that always made me laugh, so I was walking past the tattoo shop and asked Alex if he wanted to do it he’s done a few others for me.

‘He said yeah it was one of the better ideas he’d heard recently and we did it a couple of days later,’ he said.
