A man who went on a rampage at a newsagency where he threw items from the shelves and threatened to burn the store down is on the run from police.

The man entered the Doveton store in Melbourne’s south-east about 4.20pm on May 17. 

Victoria Police spoke to Daily Mail Australia and said the man was involved in an altercation with staff members and had threatened to burn the store down. 

It’s alleged his wild rampage caused $700 worth of damage, Seven News reported.

‘Investigators were informed of a man being involved in an altercation with staff members,’ a police spokesman said. 

‘The man threatened to burn down the store before throwing items from the shelves and fleeing.’ 

The man is described as aged in his 40s to 50s.
