Terrifying scenes as rifle-wielding man wearing a balaclava and flak jacket stalks streets of regional city before taking a person hostage
A man is in custody after he allegedly terrorising Sunday morning shoppers on a knife-wielding rampage before holding one person hostage.
Emergency services were called to the Wollongong suburb of Windang south of Sydney shortly after 9am following reports of an ‘active shooter’ roaming the streets.
There are reports the man had one hostage inside a dive shop during the incident.
A NSW Police spokesman confirmed to Daily Mail Australia a man is now in custody.
Police are unaware of any casualties at this stage.
