Man is stabbed to death at east London shopping centre

A man has been stabbed to death at an east London shopping centre in another night of bloodshed in the capital as police investigate eight gun and knife murders in a week.

The young man, believed to be in his early 20s, was found suffering from stab wounds at the Stratford Centre.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at 9.30pm and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

This is the latest incident in a week of bloodshed, which has seen police probe eight knife and gun-related murders since last Wednesday.

‘Formal identification awaits and a post mortem examination will be held in due course,’ said a spokesperson.

The victims next of kin have not yet been informed and no arrests have been made. 

On Monday, two men were knifed to death in the capital in separate attacks.

A man in his 40s was killed in Walthamstow, while a second man died after turning up at a west London hospital with stab injuries. He was believed to have been injured in Southall.

The victim, 42, suffered multiple stab wounds in the attack. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8.45am.

A man, 30, has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection to the fatal stabbing. 

Also on Sunday, two men were arrested after a man was found dead at a home in Hounslow. 

Police were called to Haslemere Avenue and the London Ambulance Service arrived nine minutes later.

The man, who has not yet been named, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, while a woman, 19, is being held on suspicion of assisting an offender.

On Saturday, a man in his 20s died after being found stabbed and shot down a street in north London.

Emergency services were called to the scene following reports of gunshots at 12.40am. Just over half an hour later, the man passed away at the scene.

The ex-Waltham Forest college student was treated by paramedics, but died on his way to hospital.    

An 18-year-old was chased and stabbed to death in Chadwell Heath, east London, last Wednesday.

The incident happened before 10.30pm on Padnall Road.  

Detective Chief Inspector Tony Lynes from the Homicide and Major Crime Command leads the investigation and said today: ‘We are appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the area of Nash Road and Padnall Road at about 10.30pm on the night of the murder and who may have witnessed the victim being chased by a group of at least seven people.

‘I would also ask people who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area at around that time.

‘If you have any information that could assist this investigation then please contact police – a young man has been tragically killed and we need to get justice for his family.’ 

A 34-year-old man was arrested during the early stages of the investigation on suspicion of murder and he has been bailed pending further inquiries.
