Selfies can come at a cost, as one man found out at Bondi Beach.

The price he paid for his latest Instagram snap was a phone and his dignity.

The man somehow managed to grab a guard rail behind him as he fell and miraculously kept hold of his phone- and that new profile picture

For some reason he has his phone, and raises it above his head attempting to take a selfie as the waves crash on the rocks behind him.

But Mother Nature took the man by surprise and the wave crashed above his head sweeping him of his feet.

The man somehow managed to grab a guard rail behind him as he fell and miraculously kept hold of his phone- and that new profile picture. 

The video has attracted a number of comments.

‘Deserved for wearing those dodgy shorts,’ wrote one user.

‘Fair job hanging onto the phone though,’ said another.
