Man knocks out ‘bin thief’ with single punch in Grimsby

This is the shocking moment a man accused of stealing from bins is viciously punched to the ground.

The footage shows him being confronted by two men over claims he was raiding bins in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire.

Thieves were looking through resident’s waste for personal information that could be used for fraud, according to rumours circulating on social media.

The attacker has been named on social media as David and the incident took place around two weeks ago.

David can be seen wearing a black jacket and dark jeans, while the other man is wearing a green jacket, lighter jeans and white trainers.

The attacker can be heard repeatedly asking the man: ‘Why are you going through my garden?’

Without getting a legible response, he also asks the man to stop walking away and demands he answer his questions.

However, as the man in the green jacket is attempting to walk away he is stopped and punched to the floor.

Bystanders can be heard shouting at the man on the floor telling him that ‘you just go knocked out’ while the one filming the incident on a smartphone boasts about posting it on social media before continuing to laugh at the man calling him a ‘muppet’.

The man in the green jacket then walks off as he is taunted by the assailants, who leave in the opposite direction.

It is believed that the incident took place on Hamilton Street, in Grimsby’s East Marsh, and the video was posted on YouTube.

Humberside Police have said they’ve received no reports of an assault in that area, but have said that if anyone wishes to report a crime they should call them on non-emergency number 101, or visit the local police station and report the incident to an officer.
