Man receives a scratchie slamming the Liberal Party in lead up to Victorian state election

Instead of the usual leaflets and flyers, campaigners have been handing out anti-Liberal party scratchie cards to voters in the lead up to the crucial Victorian state election.

Authorised by the Victorian Trades Hall Council, the ‘Lucky Lobster’ scratchie urges voters looking to try their luck during the November 24 election to put the Liberals last.

Scratch panels reveal what voters would reportedly receive under an elected Liberal government, including ‘wage theft’, ‘health cuts’, ‘workers killed’ and ‘school cuts’.

‘One of the best anti Liberal handouts I’ve received this election. Even has real scratch panels,’ a voter posted on Reddit.

One of the hundreds of commenters described it as top class propaganda.

‘Marketing at its finest! Somebody deserves a raise,’ another added.

But some didn’t see it that way.

‘I wish they’d just focus on themselves and what they will do instead of attacking the other parties,’ one voter commented.

Others confirmed they also received the scratchie at various stations across Melbourne’s rail network.

‘I got one outside the train station. At first glance, I thought it was pro-liberal. Then I saw the lobster,’ one commented.

The lobster reference is a pot shot at Liberal leader Matthew Guy, who famously had a dinner meeting at the lavish Lobster Cave restaurant with alleged Melbourne mafia boss Tony Madafferi in 2017.

It’s not the first time in recent weeks the Lobster Cave dinner has come back to haunt Mr Guy.

Protesters dressed as lobsters gatecrashed his election campaign launch last month, where they danced outside the venue to the B52s’ smash hit Rock Lobster.

They also held placards that read ‘his Guy is Drowning in a Sea of Scandal’ and ‘You’ll Never Claw Your Way Back, The Guardian reported.

Mr Guy is an $3.10 outsider to become Victoria’s next Premier, with current leader Daniel Andrews tipped to remain at the helm, priced at $1.30 by Sportsbet.
