This is the incredible moment that a man was sent hurtling metres down the runway when he walked behind a parked airplane which had its powerful engine running.

The powerful jet of air from the Saudi Arabian Airlines plane forced the airport worker to run at speed before it knocked him over and sent him sprawling across the concrete.

But he got up, dusted himself off and stood a safe distance from the engine, staring incredulously at the plane.

It is not clear where the video was filmed on October 22 at 11.37am.

The Saudi Arabian Airlines fleet consists of Airbus and Boeing panes and has a totla of 172 passenger planes currently in service.

Aircraft engines have powerful propulsion systems that generate mechanical power.

Aircraft engines are almost always either lightweight piston engines or gas turbines, except for small multicopter UAVs which are almost always electric aircraft.
