An allegedly armed man has been shot by police after an hours-long siege where he barricaded himself inside a petrol station.
Nearby businesses on Compton Road in the Brisbane suburb of Stretton were evacuated on Monday afternoon while police attempted to negotiate with him.
Heavily-armed specialist police were at the scene as there were fears the man was armed with a gun.

Police officers were also in position at the back of the business.
Traffic was diverted traffic and the police asked motorists to avoid the area.
A large exclusion zone was put in place.
