Incredibly, nobody was hurt in the accident which happened on Thursday at a BP station in Ortonville, about 50 miles northwest of Detroit, although broken bottles of liquor led to a small fire.

The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office charged Edmonds with reckless driving and failing to report an accident.

The sheriff’s office say Edmonds seemed to suddenly accelerate in the gas station’s parking lot around 2:30am before hitting a gas pump and careening straight into the store.

Edmonds, who is a regular at the gas station explained to police that he had been drinking prior to the crash.

An employee told police that Edmonds bought a beer, opened it and then got into his truck in the moments before the crash.

He said he wanted to ‘speed around the gas pumps because his new tires spin easily’, according an incident report as seen by NBC News but had ‘no intention of crashing into the station or hurting anyone’.

He told police he was attempting to spin around 180 degrees.

Before calmly walking out of the store, amid the carnage Edmonds ripped off his license plate because ‘he felt scared’.

Edmonds was arraigned and released on a $5,000 but has been instructed to never return to the gas station.

He must also undergo drug and alcohol tests twice a week.
