A good Samaritan who offered a lift to a drunk man in Melbourne has had his ute and two beloved dogs stolen.

Bobby Psaila recounted the sorry tale on social media, describing how he offered the heartless thief a lift from a St Albans address at about 3.30am on Friday.

‘I woke up to some noise at 3am this guy was drunk out front of my mum’s house and I gave him some water and a blanket cause he couldn’t walk and it was freezing outside,’ Mr Psalia wrote on Facebook.

‘I offered him a ride home and put my dogs in the back because I didn’t want them to fight or make noise when I left. 

‘I drove him to an address that he told me and when I got out of the car to check house number, he drove off with my dogs.’

His main concern is for his two Staffordshire terriers.

‘I want my dogs back,’ Mr Psaila said.

The car is described as a gold ute with a cab and police are investigating the incident.
