Heavy delays have been caused at Redfern station after a man climbed onto the power lines over the tracks.

Trains have been suspended coming into and out of the station while authorities sought to remove the trespasser.

The disruption occurred around 10.30am, affecting trains at Redfern, central and Town Hall.

A man (pictured) was seen hanging off the power lines and standing on the railings at Redfern, causing major delays.

Police are understood to have removed the man, and some services have resumed, although there are still significant delays.

Videos posted on Twitter show the man swinging on the power lines this morning at the busy station whilst travelers looked on from the platforms.

Many traveling to Redfern were stopped and told to disembark at Central due to ‘operational issues’.

The man was also seen hanging off the rails at the top of the stairs above platform 4.

The services at Central have resumed but delays still continue at Redfern.

The delays are caused due to the man threatening to harm himself before police and transport staff could intervene and remove him.
