Man tackled after ‘stealing bike’ at Gold Coast race

A man has been tackled to the ground then forced into a headlock at a charity race on Saturday after it was revealed he was on a stolen bike.

Just moments before he was tackled by quick-moving spectators the man, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, road over the finish line claiming to have won the race.

But the commentator at the Gold Coast event was quick to call action, and can be heard in video footage exclaiming that the bike was in fact stolen.

Shortly after the man hit the ground after being tackled two police took over from the forming crowd.

‘I’m on the ground,’ the man said as police put him in handcuffs.

He was then seen being put in the back of a police wagon.
