A man accused of unloading a nail gun at a truck driver before mowing him down with his ute has been charged after the ugly road rage incident.

Shocking footage captured the confrontation between three tradesmen during peak hour traffic on Parramatta Road in Burwood, western Sydney, on Wednesday afternoon.

Police allege a Nissan Navara and an Isuzu truck were involved in a minor crash before one of the drivers – a 32-year-old man – got out of his ute and shot an unloaded nail gun at the 55-year-old truck driver.

The younger man returned to the Nissan and drove at the truckie from behind, hitting him with his ute before fleeing, police said.

Police later arrested the 32-year-old man at North Strathfield.

He had minor injuries and was taken to Concord Hospital under police guard.

He was later charged at Burwood Police Station with driving furiously in a motor vehicle to do or cause bodily harm.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on October 26.
