Man Utd to get £1m from Palace if they return Fosu-Mensah

  • Crystal Palace have used their allowance of two Premier League loans
  • They have got Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan
  • It means they cannot follow up interest in other loan targets like Danny Ings
  • Fosu-Mensah is likeliest to be released but there is a £1m break clause in deal

Manchester United are in line for a £1million bonus if Crystal Palace return defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah to Old Trafford to free up space for another Premier League loan.

Roy Hodgson’s January plans have been complicated by Palace using their allowance of two PL loans on Fosu-Mensah and Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

It means they cannot follow up interest in other loan targets such as Liverpool forward Danny Ings unless a vacancy is created.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah may have to be released back to Manchester United by Crystal Palace

Fosu-Mensah is the likeliest to be released but there is a £1m break clause in the deal United did with Palace last summer.

The 19-year-old defender has made 12 appearances for the Eagles this season in the Premier League.

The young Dutch defender and his Palace team-mates currently sit 17th in the English top flight ahead of the match against runaway leaders Manchester City on Sunday.
