Man Utd ‘to offer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer permanent job if they beat PSG’

Manchester United ‘poised to offer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer permanent job if they beat PSG’ after interim boss restores Old Trafford feel-good factor

  • Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has won eight games and drawn one as interim manager
  • He is now well placed to get the Manchester United job on a permanent basis
  • United are expected to give Solskjaer the gig if he overseas a victory over PSG

Manchester United are expected to make Ole Gunnar Solskjaer their permanent manager if he oversees a win over PSG in the Champions League.

Solskjaer has delivered eight victories and a draw from his first nine matches as interim boss and the Norwegian has brought the feel-good factor back to Old Trafford following the sacking of Jose Mourinho in December.

But his biggest test is yet to come in the shape of a two-legged European clash with the champions of France.

United host PSG on Tuesday, February 12 before heading to Paris for the return leg on Wednesday, March 6.

According to The Sun, United chief executive Ed Woodward has been very impressed with Solskjaer since appointing him on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

It is claimed that Woodward visited Solskjaer last week to tell him what a good job his was doing.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has long been touted as United’s first choice.

But The Sun reports that the majority of the players and staff at Old Trafford believe Solskjaer will get the gig on a full-time basis if he sees them into the quarter-finals of the Champions League at the expense of PSG.

United’s cause will be boosted an injury to Neymar who is set to miss both legs with a broken metatarsal.
