In the video, the man could be seen approaching the broadcaster from behind and kissing her as she carried out a live broadcast.

He then tried to flee but reportedly dropped his wallet in the process which allowed him to be identified.

The suspect later pulled the reporter’s hair and pushed her when she bravely stood her ground and refused to give him his wallet back.

He was found guilty of sexual assault and aggression and was banned by the court from trying to and contact Guillan by any means.

The man was also ordered to pay the victim compensation of £2,024 (€2,410) and he has been forbidden to come any closer than 984 feet of the victim’s home or place of work.

Guillan reportedly filed a complaint after the incident and received the support of the TV channel where she works.

The attacker was located on Monday by the Spanish National Police, after the complaint was filed by the victim.

The suspect was summoned to appear at the Courthouse of Arrecife, Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands, on Tuesday where he was convicted.

Mayor Astrid Perez reportedly spoke personally with Guillan to show solidarity with the journalist.

The councilor also signed a press release issued to local media saying she ‘rejected this type of sexist behavior towards women’ and also regretted that ‘still persists in a part of society, including many young people’s, attitudes of gender violence’.
