A man who was charged over the ‘violent and brutal’ murder of a 22-year-old mother, has been declared mentally unfit to stand trial.

On Monday Jesse Leigh Green, 28, was charged with killing his friend Teah Rose Luckwell just metres from her unharmed one-year-old daughter in 2018.

Police believed the two knew each other as Ms Luckwell was discovered dead in her apartment in South Tamworth, New South Wales on March 28.

NSW Supreme Court Justice Richard Button deemed Green unfit during a mental health fitness inquiry and referred him to a mental health review tribunal.

Green will remain behind bars until his hearing, The Daily Telegraph reported.
