A 13-year-old boy has been arrested after a teenager was left fighting for his life after being stabbed in the street today. 

The boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder alongside two men aged 19 and 28 and a woman, 22, following the attack in Trafford, Manchester. 

The 17-year-old victim has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and police have put the area around Stretford on lockdown this afternoon.

The attack happened just before 1.50pm this afternoon, police confirmed. 

A cordon is in place on the street and officers have also taped off a second scene nearby.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed they were called to the scene to reports a ‘young male’ had been stabbed. 

A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service added: ‘We were called at 1.48pm to reports of a stabbing on School Road in Stretford. We have taken a patient to hospital.’

A spokesperson for GMP said: ‘Police have arrested four people after a boy was stabbed in Stretford.

‘Officers were called to School Road, Stretford shortly before 1.50pm on Wednesday 17 July 2019 to a report that a boy had been stabbed.

‘Emergency services attended and the boy, aged 17, was taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

‘A boy aged 13, two men aged 19 and 28 and a woman aged 22 have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Enquiries are ongoing.’ 

A woman who works in a nearby hairdressers said she saw the victim running down the road shouting: ‘I’ve been stabbed.’

She said a boy who was with him then starting putting pressure on his wound on his back.
