Manchester City have joined the race for Red Bull Salzburg’s £50million rated starlet Erling Haaland.

Haaland’s father Alf-Inge played for City between 2000 and 2003.

If City do look to sign Haaland they are set to face competition from a host of high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United.

The report indicates that Haaland is unlikely to leave Salzburg in January, with a move next summer more likely.

HAALAND’S STATS THIS SEASON

Bundesliga: Eight games, eleven goals, five assists

Champions League: Two games, four goals

Austrian Cup:  One game, three goals

Total: 11 games, 18 goals, five assists

Haaland’s current contract at Salzburg runs until the summer of 2023, but it is difficult to envisage him staying at the club for the duration of his deal if he continues to perform to such a high standard.

There have been suggestions that Haaland could be a long-term replacement for Sergio Aguero at City.
