Oleksandr Zinchenko has agreed a four-year contract to join Arsenal from Manchester City, in a deal worth £30million plus £2m add-ons.

City are moving for Brighton’s Marc Cucurella to replace Zinchenko.

Zinchenko remains with City at their training camp in Houston but is set for a move to the Emirates Stadium after finalising personal terms.

The 25-year-old has turned down previous chances to depart the Etihad Stadium but reuniting with Mikel Arteta proved a major pull for the versatile Ukraine international.

He has played 128 games for City in six seasons with the club, winning an impressive nine major trophies.

The Ukraine international has rarely been played in his preferred position though, as Pep Guardiola has often used him as a left back rather than in midfield.

Zinchenko is the Gunners’ fourth signing after Matt Turner, Marquinhos and the Ukrainian’s former City team-mate Gabriel Jesus.

City identified Cucurella as a replacement were Zinchenko to go but still have negotiation to do with Brighton, who value the Spaniard at around £50m.

Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa is on their list of alternative options to Cucurella if Brighton demand too much money for the Spaniard.

City will be looking to extend their recent dominance in the Premier League next season. They have won four of the last five titles, and strengthened well this summer by bringing in Erling Haaland and Kalvin Phillips.

They get their league defence underway against West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday, August 7.
