Manchester City to face Liverpool in a pre-season friendly held in New York

Premier League champions elect Manchester City will face Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in New York on July 25.

Sportsmail understands Pep Guardiola’s side are also set to take in Chicago and Miami during their summer tour of America.

A stay in New York will be sandwiched between the two other cities, with the friendly against Liverpool likely to be held at New Jersey’s 82,500-capacity MetLife Stadium, although that is yet to be confirmed.

Guardiola will also take in the home of City’s sister club, New York City, to make use of the facilities and drop in on Patrick Vieira.

There will not be a Manchester derby, even though Jose Mourinho is seemingly heading to Miami as well. Discussions have taken place about Manchester United playing Real Madrid in Florida.

United, who are basing themselves at UCLA in Los Angeles, are also believed to be meeting Liverpool, potentially at the Big House in Michigan, which holds 107,000.
