Manchester City ‘will END their pursuit of Tottenham’s Harry Kane if they sign £100million Aston Villa man Jack Grealish unless Pep Guardiola sell players for big money’

  • Manchester City will stop pursuing Harry Kane if they sign Jack Grealish
  • Grealish is set to become the most expensive player in English football at £100m
  • But Tottenham want £150m for Kane, which City can only afford if they sell

Manchester City look set to end their interest signing Harry Kane if they are successful in bringing Jack Grealish to the Etihad.

With a £100million bid on the table for Aston Villa’s talismanic playmaker, if it goes through then Pep Guardiola will not have the funds to also go after Kane, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has made it clear that he has no intention of selling England captain Kane, who has another three years on his contract, and wants at least £150m to even consider a sale.

But with Grealish set to become the most expensive signing in English football history, City would have to sell several players for a significant profit before another record-breaking fee for Kane could be countenance, according to the MEN.

Kane, for his part, sent shockwaves across European football in May when he publicly stated his desire to leave Spurs before Euro 2020.

He went on to say in an interview with Gary Neville that playing with City’s Kevin De Bruyne would be a ‘striker’s dream’, dropping a very public hint to Guardiola to come and get him.

Reports earlier this week suggested Kane was ready to force through a move to City when he returned to Tottenham for pre-season training.

Raheem Sterling was rumoured to be on his way out at the Etihad should Grealish arrive, but the England winger now looks set to be staying regardless of whether the Villa man joins.

Riyad Mahrez is another player who has been linked with a move away from City to accommodate Grealish, but he made a statement in their 4-0 pre-season friendly win over Barnsley on Saturday.
