Sportsmail revealed recently that Lingard will hold talks over his future at United next month.

Lingard has a year remaining on his current deal and caught the eye on loan at West Ham in the second half of last season as he scored nine goals and provided five assists in 16 games.

Last week Lingard indicated that he could leave Old Trafford, with regular playing time a priority.

Lingard praised United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for allowing him to go on loan last season.

He told Sky Sports: ‘Regular football is the most important thing for me.

‘After going on loan and getting a good run in the team, you started to see the real me, with the goals and the assists.

‘I’ve never doubted my ability, I’ve always believed in myself. I spoke to the manager (Ole Gunnar Solskjaer) in pre-season and said, ‘I need game time’. He said, ‘we can discuss it December time’, and we spoke again and he agreed to let me go on loan.

‘I had various conversations with him during my time at West Ham. He was very supportive and it was a great loan for me.’

A product of United’s academy, Lingard has made 210 appearances for the club, scoring 33 times.

The 28-year-old fell out of favour at United but could now be set for an extended stay at the club as he looks to regain his place in the England squad.

Lingard was named in Gareth Southgate’s provisional 33-man squad for Euro 2020 but was unable to make the cut for the final selection of 26 players.
