New United manager Erik ten Hag is eager to improve his team’s options at left-back
Known for his pace and impressive positioning, Malacia is set to strengthen United at left-back, with Luke Shaw and Alex Telles the club’s other main options in that position.
Malacia has five senior caps for Holland having previously represented his country at various youth levels.
A product of Feyenoord’s academy, he has made 136 senior appearances for the club and won the KNVB Cup in the 2017-18 campaign.
The 22-year old had been on United’s radar this window but was poised to join French side Lyon as the Old Trafford club focused attention on their bid to sign Frenkie de Jong.

United are also looking to finalise the signing of Malacia’s compatriot Frenkie de Jong
United are continuing to pursue a deal for Malacia’s international colleague De Jong.
De Jong has been Ten Hag’s main target since taking charge of United, with the pair having previously worked together at Ajax.
Sportsmail sources have indicated a deal between United and Barcelona for De Jong is ’90 per cent’ complete, with just the finer details left to conclude.
There is optimism that the transfer will be completed this week. United will pay an initial £55million to the Spanish club for De Jong, a fee that could rise close to £70m.
