- United play Real Madrid and then Borussia Dortmund on next stops of US tour
Manchester United will be handed a pre-season boost this week with Anthony Martial ready to start taking part in full training.
The French forward has been nursing a hamstring tear since the injury occurred in the 2-1 win over Fulham in May, but according to The Athletic is ready to join in first-team training on United’s US tour.
Given the player’s injury record the club have been cautious with Martial’s recovery and has so far been training on his own at Carrington, and at the Pingry School – United’s base on the first stop on their American tour.
Erik ten Hag will only select the Frenchman when he can be assured of his fitness, but would like him involved on the next leg of their US tour as they travel to a complex in La Jolla, San Diego.
Wednesday’s game with Real Madrid in Houston may come too soon for Martial to be involved, with Untied then facing Borussia Dortmund in Las Vegas on Sunday.

Having cooled their interest in both Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen, their top target is still Atalanta’s Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund. With talks continuing over the player with the Italian club.
In Martial’s absence and with the lack of a new focal point in his frontline, United’s Dutch boss has trialed Jadon Sancho in a false nine position during pre-season.
Sancho has started all three pre-season games in the position and impressed in the 2-0 win over Arsenal, scoring the second goal after he latched-on to a mistake from Gabriel to double United’s lead.
