Liverpool, who are managed by former Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp, remain the most likely to make a bid and have money to invest following the £145m sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.

But United have joined the list of suitors, according to Sport Bild, while Bayern have identified Pulisic as a long-term successor to Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, both 34.

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc wants Pulisic to honour his contract through until 2020 and said: ‘We are planning with him well beyond the summer.’

He also has nine goals in 20 appearances for the United States national side.
