Mandalay Bay elevators are again stopping at 32nd floor

Following America’s worst mass shooting in US history, the elevators at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas are again stopping at the 32nd floor.

In total, 58 people died and more than 500 were severely injured in a 72-minute shooting by lone-wolf gunman Stephen Craig Paddock, 64, who unleashed thousands of rounds of ammunition onto the Route 91 Harvest music festival in October.

The 64-year-old killed himself just before authorities stormed his room.

In late November the hotel closed off several floors due to a lack of guests, which was a direct result of the tragic October 1 shooting.

In an official report Sunday, Mandalay Bay reception officials said that all floors were back in use.

Officials with MGM Resorts International, Mandalay Bay’s parent company, said in December they expected to reopen the floors once the convention season resumed in early 2018, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.

Therefore, with about 180,000 people expected in to be in the City of Lights for CES, there is high demand for rooms.

The cheapest rate at Mandalay Bay for the four nights with check-in on Monday and checkout Friday is nearly $2,000, including resort fees and taxes.

Meanwhile, it was reported on Saturday that employees at the hotel had more than ten interactions with Paddock in the days leading up to the mass shooting.

The interactions with Paddock were ‘normal in nature.’ Hundreds of lawsuits have been filed against the hotel, with many questioning why the staff didn’t notice anything unusual about the shooter.

Over 450 lawsuits have been filed against MGM Resorts, Mandalay Corp., Live Nation Entertainment and Slide Fire Solutions- the maker of the device that Paddock used in the shooting, as well as against his estate, according to CNN.
