Manhunt launched after Sale father stabbed

Detectives want to speak to Tyronne Patrick (pictured), 32, in connection with the murder of 34-year-old Mike Grimshaw

A manhunt has been launched after a young father died when he was stabbed in the neck outside his home after a ‘short scuffle’.

Detectives want to speak to Tyronne Patrick, 32, in connection with the murder of 34-year-old Mike Grimshaw, who was stabbed in the neck in Sale, Greater Manchester, last month.

Mr Grimshaw had reportedly gone outside his house in Royton Avenue to confront people causing trouble in the street.

He was beckoned into the road and seconds later was stabbed in the neck during a ‘short scuffle’ late in the evening of Thursday July 20, police said.

Mr Patrick is from the Trafford area and has links to South Manchester.

Detective Inspector Andy Butterworth, of Greater Manchester Police, said: ‘This has been a fast- moving inquiry and we have a significant number of officers trying to locate this man.

‘Members of the public are advised not to approach him and we are asking anyone with information or who may have seen Tyronne Patrick to please contact us.

‘Anything you know, no matter how small, may be a key piece of information.’

Previously, a 31-year-old man and a 16-year old boy were arrested on suspicion of murder and have been bailed pending further inquiries.

In a tribute, the victim’s mother, Janet Grimshaw, said: ‘My son, Mike, was the most caring, patient and gentle person.

‘A rock not only to his family, but to his many friends. He adored his daughter Erin and cherished the time spent with her.

‘I cannot put into words how much my heart is broken and the sorrow I feel for his daughter, sister, niece, nephew, partner and her family, my extended family and all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.’
