A man has died after allegedly being assaulted at one of Australia’s most iconic beaches and being placed into an induced coma.
Emergency services were called to The Corso, one of the main streets in Manly on Sydney’s northern beaches, about 3am on January 27 where they found a man with a ‘serious head injury’.
Police believe the 37-year-old had fallen backwards and hit his head during an alleged altercation with Jesse Allan, 24.
He was rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition and placed into an induced coma.
Investigators were informed the alleged victim had died on Tuesday night having spent 11 days in a come.

Police arrested Allan at his home in Fairlight, on Sydney’s northern beaches, and charged him with assault on January 28.
He was granted bail in Manly Local Court the following day under the condition he continue living with his parents and surrender his Australian and UK passports.
Allan’s barrister told the court that his client had used an ‘open handed push’ in self defence during the altercation, according to the Daily Telegraph.
