Man’s body found near Leicester airport

  • A man’s body has been found on Gaulby Lane in Stoughton, Leicestershire
  • The discovery of the body was made around 10am this morning

A man’s body has been found by the roadside in a village near Leicester Airport and police are appealing for information surrounding the ‘unexplained death’.

Gaulby Lane in Stoughton, Leicestershire was cordoned off after the discovery was made at around 10am this morning.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and detectives are keen to speak to anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area between 7pm last night and 10am this morning. 

Formal identification has not yet taken place and a post-mortem examination will take place to determine the cause of the man’s death.

The road which borders the airport remains shut while investigators continue to examine the scene.  

In a statement, Leicestershire Police said: ‘Detectives are appealing for information after the body of a man was found in Gaulby Lane, Stoughton, Leicester.

‘Police were called to the area shortly after 10am today following the discovery and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

‘His death is currently being treated as unexplained. An investigation is underway and inquiries are in their early stages.

‘Anyone who uses the area of Gaulby Lane, and who may have any information, which could help is urged to make contact with police.’

Detective Inspector Mark Sinski added: ‘We are keen to hear from anyone who saw anything unusual or suspicious in the area between 7pm last night and 10am this morning.

‘If you were in the area, please think carefully about anything you may have seen or any information you may have.’
