A man has been taken in for questioning by homicide detectives after a second man was found dead in a Melbourne home.  

The unidentified man’s body was found by police in a property on Rodney Street in Gisborne, 54km north-west of Melbourne, around 6.30pm on Sunday.

The cause of death has not yet been confirmed, but it’s understood police are treating the incident as suspicious.

Police believe the man had died sometime between Thursday and Sunday, a neighbour told The Herald Sun.

While another resident told the publication a ‘weapon was involved’.

‘Not a gun, so probably a knife,’ they said.

Another local described the area as a ‘very safe place’ and said they’d not heard of anything like this happening before.

Police were still at the scene on Monday morning.

The questioning is expected to happen at some point on Monday.

A wildlife rescue worker was also seen retrieving a bird from the premises around 8am. 

Trauma cleaners were also seen attending the property on Monday.
