Marcel Somerville throws shade at former co-stars

Kem Cetinay and Chris Hughes’ debut single A Little Bit Leave It was met with criticism by Lethal Bizzle, who accused the pair of stealing his phrase ‘leave it’ and making money from it.

And now the duo’s former Love Island co-star Marcel Somerville has added insult to injury as he seemed to take a thinly-veiled swipe at them at the GRM Legacy Award on Tuesday night.

Rapper MistaJam was presenting Lethal Bizzle with an award, when he took aim of the ITVBe twosome – labelling them ‘culture vultures’ and ‘dickheads’ – all caught on tape by Marcel as he giggled along.

MistaJam said on stage: ‘Even though we are celebrating his legacy tonight, he’s still as relevant today as he always has been.

‘He runs his own record label and kept a certain couple of culture vultures and put them in their place. Leave it Chris and Kem, you bunch of d**kheads.’

Clearly seeing the funny side of the dig at his pals, Marcel couldn’t resist filming the moment.

In the clip he can be headed giggling away with his girlfriend Gabby Allen – before stating: ‘I ain’t saying nothing.’

Laughing in the background, he appeared to agree with the statement, having previously demanded credit for the track in a now-deleted tweet.

Chris and Kem came under fire for stealing the rapper’s catchphrase ‘leave it’ without asking his permission or paying homage to grime culture – much to the rapper’s annoyance.

The pair, who bonded over their love of lyrical rhymes on the ITV2 dating series, were tweeted by Lethal Bizzle in a series of angry posts, with the Fester Skank rapper claiming that while he doesn’t mind others using his phrases, he thinks he deserves a ‘percentage’ of Chris and Kem’s track as they are making money from it.Lethal B finally received the royalties he demanded.

Chris and Kem, meanwhile, were quizzed over Lethal Bizzle’s reaction to their track while they made an appearance on Nick Grimshaw’s Radio 1 show.

And while they seemed to be a little nervous over the grilling, Kem seemed to overlook Lethal B’s upset tone and admitted he was just ‘happy’ to receive a message from the star.

He said of the debacle: ‘It was like a fanboy moment – I was just happy he’d tweeted us! We’re amateurs, it’s our first song – we didn’t even think about the legal side of it.’

Keen to make amends with Lethal Bizzle, he adde: ‘I’ve just said speak to the label, we don’t want no beef. I think it’s all light-hearted banter.’
