Marcus Rashford insists he is still as devoted to Manchester United as ever despite PSG rumours

Marcus Rashford insists he is still as devoted to Manchester United as ever despite PSG rumours as forward vows to get the team ‘fighting for trophies’ once again amid dreadful start to life under Erik ten Hag

  • Rashford has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in recent weeks
  • It follows the forward’s struggles in 2021-22 and a low-key start to this season
  • United have started with two defeats and take on rivals Liverpool on Monday
  • But Rashford, 24, has insisted he is committed to getting United back on track

Marcus Rashford has re-affirmed his commitment to Manchester United amid speculation linking the forward with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The 24-year-old United academy graduate struggled last season, scoring only five goals, and has failed to make much impact as United lost their opening two games of this campaign.

But ahead of Monday night’s crunch clash with arch-rivals Liverpool, Rashford insisted he remains as devoted to his boyhood club as ever.

‘100 per cent, for me that’s a non-negotiable at the club,’ he told Sky Sports.

‘The one thing that remains the same is your dedication and your commitment to training and the games. I feel like whatever the situation is I have to give 100 per cent for myself, family, friends and the fans.

‘For me, I have always wanted to be at Man United for as long as possible and be competing for trophies at the club.

‘Hopefully we can get back to doing that and it’s something that I’m definitely pushing to do.’

Rashford admitted it will take some time to adapt to Erik ten Hag’s methods as United’s squad get used to yet another new manager.

The England forward was handed his debut by Louis van Gaal back in 2016 but has since played under Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick at Old Trafford.

He added: ‘It just takes time to adapt. Some managers we have adapted quicker than we thought, others it has taken longer than we expected.

‘The bottom line is that you get there and you feel comfortable doing the stuff the manager wants you to do and also enjoying it.

‘This manager definitely wants us to enjoy it and work hard as a unit and I’ve always said that when you work hard as a unit it is 10 times more enjoyable.

‘It’s been tough, especially last season we didn’t reach the heights we could have reached or the standards we’re capable of.

‘Definitely right now the team is a work in progress and we have to understand the situation we are in and just keep pushing ourselves every day.’

United lost their season opener at home to Brighton 2-1 and were then humiliated 4-0 by Brentford last weekend, piling the pressure on Ten Hag and the players ahead of their Liverpool match.

It has left United second bottom of the table with only West Ham starting the season worse than them.

It came off the back of their worst-ever Premier League season under Solskjaer and then interim boss Rangnick in 2021-22 as they finished sixth to only make the UEFA Europa League.
