Marcus Rashford ‘set to be passed FIT for this weekend’s Manchester derby’ after missing out on an England return through injury picked up after brace against Arsenal

  • Marcus Rashford is reportedly set to be fit for this weekend’s Manchester derby
  • The forward has missed Man United’s last two games with a hamstring issue
  • He claimed the injury ruled him out of England’s recent Nations League games
  • He has trained this week and is in line to return to action at the Etihad on Sunday

Marcus Rashford is set to be fit for the Manchester derby, according to a report.

The forward hasn’t played since limping off during Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Arsenal at the start of September, citing the injury as the reason for his England omission.

But, according to The Sun, he is winning the race against time to be fit for his side’s crunch tie against Manchester City on Sunday.

Rashford has missed two games – both in the Europa League – with the hamstring issue.

He picked up the injury after scoring two goals against Arsenal at Old Trafford as he looks to regain form under Erik ten Hag.

He tweeted on September 15, after being left out the England squad for Nations League games against Italy and Germany: ‘In regards to England every player wants to represent there country and I’m no different! Unfortunately I’m not ready yet as I’ve picked up an untimely injury.’

It’s unclear if Rashford would have been named in the squad if he was fit.

He has been nominated for the Premier League’s September ‘Player of the Month’ award after a string of impressive performances.

The 24-year-old has been playing more centrally in recent times, keeping Cristiano Ronaldo out the starting XI at United and hitting form after a number of years spent out wide.

He has been in training again ahead of the derby, and is expected to feature at the Etihad.
