Margot Robbie beats Streep’s longest-standing Oscar record

Meryl Streep, 68, landed her 21st Oscar nomination this week, for her performance in The Post.

So how could it be that Margot Robbie, 27, has already broken one of the Academy Award veteran’s longest-standing records?

The Australian beauty earned her first-ever Oscar nomination this week, and will fight-it-out with Meryl in the Best Actress category.

I, got ya! Margot Robbie, 27, has ALREADY broken 68-year-old Meryl Streep’s longest-standing Academy Awards record… after the Australian earned her first Oscar nod for I, Tonya

Margot’s the hot-hand in Hollywood right now, fresh off a Golden Globe win for Best Actress in a Comedy for her career-best performance as Tonya Harding in I, Tonya.

She’ll be looking to deny Meryl her fourth Academy Award, alongside the likes of class-act Frances McDormand (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) and Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird).

On Tuesday, Meryl beat the record she set just last year, her 21 nominations enough to make her the most nominated actress in Academy Awards history.

Signed, sealed delivered! Meryl Streep, 68, landed her 21st Oscar nomination this week, for her performance in The Post, so how could Margot have already beaten on of her records?

But when Margot’s engrossing turn as disgraced US figure skater Tonya earned her a nod this week, it granted the beauty a victory over Meryl.

A victory the veteran actress will simply never be able to claw back, despite her seemingly never-ending stream of amazing performances.

Margot’s first-ever nod comes at age 27, while Meryl first entered the Oscar nominee record books at age 28, for her role in Deer Hunter.

Whether the former Australian soap star will be able to piece together anything comparable to Meryl’s historic run over the next 40-years remains to be seen.

While Margot’s one-year head start is nothing scoff at, it’s fellow-nominee Saoirse who stands the best chance in at toppling the seemingly unbeatable 21 nominations.

The 23-year-old earned her third Academy Award nomination on Thursday for Lady Bird, after 2016’s Brooklyn and 2008’s Atonement.

Look out for Lady Bird! While Margot's one-year head start is nothing scoff at, it's fellow-nominee Saoirse Ronan who stands the best chance in at toppling Meryl's 21 nominations

Intriguingly, her three nominations at 23-years and 9 months of age makes her the second-youngest actress to ever achieve the milestone.

Jennifer Lawrence holds that record, earning her third nomination in 2013, at the age of 23-years and 5 months.

One better! Intriguingly, Saoirse's three nominations at 23-years and 9 months of age makes her the second-youngest actress to ever achieve the milestone, four-months behind Jennifer Lawrence, who earned her third in 2013
