Margot Robbie, Miranda Kerr and Kayla Itsines: The Australian women topping the Young Rich List

Nine women with a combined wealth of $2.8billion are among the 100 richest Australians under 40. 

Actress Margot Robbie, model Miranda Kerr and fitness queen Kayla Itsines are the most famous among them.

But the richest of them all, with a fortune of $1.3billion, is 33-year-old Melanie Perkins, the founder and CEO of Canva, an online graphic design app.

The richest of them all, with a fortune of $1.3billion, is 33-year-old Melanie Perkins (pictured), the founder and CEO of Canva, an online graphic design app

Ms Perkins, from Perth, dropped out of university to build Fusion Books, a design tool for school yearbooks. 

Over the next five years the business became the largest yearbook company in Australia and expanded into France and New Zealand.

Ms Perkins then used similar technology to build Canva and now runs a 650-strong team across three offices in Sydney, Manila and Beijing. 

Second on the list is 38-year-old Cyan Ta’eed who is worth $799million after founding a digital market place called Envato in 2006.

The website allows people to buy and sell creative digital goods such as music, graphics, videos, photos and website themes.

In third place is Kayla Itsines, who is worth $486million after founding an app that charges $19.95 each month to bring subscribers fitness tips and meal plans.

Model Miranda Kerr, 36, is in fourth spot with a fortune of $52million.

She came to fame in 2007 as one of the Victoria’s Secret Angels – and has since made millions from her own brand of organic skincare products, KORA Organics. 

Jane Lu, 33, is worth $36million after founding her online fashion business Showpo.

The company aims to be the ‘go to’ website for Australian women buying clothes and has more than one million followers on Instagram 

In sixth place is Triangl swimwear founder Erin Deering, 35. She is worth $35million after setting up her brand in 2012 with her fiance Craig Ellis.

In third place is Kayla Itsines, who is worth $486million for her fitness app that charges $19.95 each month to bring subscribers fitness tips and meal plans.

Model Miranda Kerr, 36, is in fourth spot with a fortune of $52million.

She is one of Australia’s most famous people and has also starred in Suicide Squad and I, Tonya. 

In eighth spot is model Jennifer Hawkins, 35, who was crowned Miss Universe in 2004.

She went on to found two brands – Cozi by Jennifer Hawkins swimwear and Jbronze tanning line – taking her net worth to $35million. 

At ninth spot is Clearskincare Clinics founder Alarna Longes, 40, who is worth $30million. 

Her business provides laser treatments for acne, acne scarring, pigmentation, sun damage, anti-ageing and laser hair removal.
