One of Mark Halperin’s new accusers claims that he masturbated in front of her in his office
Embattled veteran journalist Mark Halperin released a statement apologizing for his mistreatment of female colleagues over the past several years as new allegations of sexual harassment were made public on Friday.
‘I am profoundly sorry for the pain and anguish that I have caused by my past actions,’ the statement reads.
‘I apologize sincerely to the women I mistreated.’
At least four women have come forth with new accusations against the ‘Game Change’ author when Halperin held a position of significant authority at ABC News more than a decade ago, according to CNN.
One of the accusers claims that Halperin masturbated in front of her while they were in his office while another said that he violently threw her against a window at a restaurant attempting to kiss her.
After she rebuffed him, according to CNN, Halperin threatened to end her career, telling her in subsequent telephone conversations that her carrer in the media industry was essentially over.
Just hours earlier, Halperin released the statement apologizing for his behavior.
