The Chiefs dropped plenty of passes on Monday night, but none was more costly than Marquez Valdes-Scantling’s whiff with less than two minutes remaining in the game.

As Kansas City trailed the Eagles 21-17 with 1:50 left, Patrick Mahomes dropped back and delivered a perfect ball over the top to Valdes-Scantling – though the ball went through his fingers as he failed to secure a would-be 51-yard touchdown.

And after the game, the wide receiver was evidently furious, as he was captured on video slamming his helmet against a wall after departing the field.

After Valdes-Scantling’s drop on second down, the Chiefs failed to move the chains on the next two plays and the Eagles were able to kneel out the clock at Arrowhead Stadium.

Valdes-Scantling finished the game with no catches on three targets.

However, it wasn’t just him who struggled to catch the ball for Kansas City, as the Chiefs finished the game with five drops.

Mahomes took some blame for Valdes-Scantling’s drop after the game, saying he could have thrown the ball ‘a little bit shorter.’

The Chiefs fell to 7-3 with the loss.

The Eagles, meanwhile, improved to a league-best 9-1 record.
