Married At First Sight bosses FORBID another shocking season of MAFS next year

‘They’ve heard the complaints loud and clear!’ Married At First Sight bosses FORBID a repeat of this season’s behaviour – as a petition to have the 2020 show banned reaches 24,000 signatures

The current season of Married At First Sight has been laden with explosive antics, including multiple ‘affairs, verbal abuse and full-blown physical assault.

Now in the wake of the scandalous on-screen antics, one MAFS insider has claimed the shocking 2019 social experiment will not be ‘repeated next year’.

Speaking to the NT News on Saturday one producer said the show’s bosses forbid another brazen series in 2020, claiming: ‘We’ve been told in no uncertain terms by those in charge that next season cannot be a repeat of what you’ve seen this year.’

‘The bosses have heard the complaints from viewers loud and clear,’ they added.

Just last month the experiment’s executive producer, John Walsh, echoed similar sentiments, admitting that he has regrets over how things played out.

Speaking to news.com.au in March, Walsh revealed that he wants ‘less cheating and drama’ when MAFS returns for season seven next year.

‘I wouldn’t like people to see a repeat of what they saw this year,’ he said.

‘It would just be absolute chaos if it was all cheating and all drama. While it’s fun to watch and it’s great to promo, I don’t think people will watch if that’s all it is.’

He added: ‘We don’t actually like the cheating. It plays against the spirit of the experiment.’

Walsh went on to admit that he was surprised by the behaviour of season six ‘villains’ Ines Basic and Susie Bradley.

The producer explained that the ‘pressure’ of the social experiment brought out sides of the brides that they didn’t see during casting.

The sixth season of MAFS has seen multiple shocking moments, including affairs, physical fights, and one husband calling his wife a ‘c**t.’

The outrageous on-screen antics have resulted in a flood of complaints to media watchdogs and spawned a petition calling for the show to be banned.

Daily Mail Australia recently revealed that The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has been flooded with complaints about the show.

In a statement late last month, a spokesperson for the media watchdog confirmed that all complaints had been forwarded on to the ‘licensee for consideration’.

ACMA has recently received complaints about [Married at First Sight],’ the statement read. ‘Complaints about broadcasts are referred in the first instance to the licensee for consideration’.

Meanwhile, a Change.org petition calling for the series to be ‘banned and taken off air’ has now reached over 24,800 signatures.

One viewer that signed the petition wrote: ‘MAFS is promoting disgusting behaviour all for the ratings… Shame on you Channel Nine!’

Another commented: ‘This show is allowing for abuse and infidelity.’
