Their relationship had plenty of ups and downs, but it all ended in tears for Married At First Sight couple Steve Burley and Mishel Karen.

In scenes that have yet to air on TV, Steve was left crying in the street after being dumped by his ‘wife’ in the final week of production.

An emotional Mishel packed her bags and caught a taxi to the airport, as a producer and camera crew scrambled to capture the fight.

It’s over: Married At First Sight’s Steve Burley broke down in tears when Mishel Karen finally left him during the final week of production last year. Pictured in Sydney on November 28

On November 28, the couple left the Skye Suites apartment complex on Kent Street, where Mishel bid farewell to Steve.

She looked distraught as they shared some tense words, before hugging and saying goodbye one last time.

Mishel started crying as Steve held her close. At that moment, a camera crew swarmed around them as office workers on their lunch break curiously watched on.

Steve hailed a taxi for Mishel, loaded her luggage into the back and kissed her on the forehead. After she left, he broke down in tears on the footpath.

After composing himself, Steve flagged his own cab down and went to the airport.

‘Nobody knew who they were but a lot of people assumed it was Married At First Sight or something,’ an onlooker told Daily Mail Australia.

‘It was like they were heading somewhere together, and then she changed her mind and left the old bloke standing there on his own crying.’

The couple filmed their non-legally binding wedding in September and initially seemed to be a good match.

But Mishel has been frustrated by her husband’s lack of affection, and Steve has admitted he’s not attracted to his wife.

Meanwhile, the relationship experts have been left baffled by their decision to stay in the experiment even though they are just friends.
