Married At First Sight: Jo McPharlin denies weight loss surgery as she’s branded ‘too skinny’

‘What works for me, may not work for you’: Married At First Sight’s Jo McPharlin denies having weight loss surgery as trolls call her ‘too skinny’ – and reveals how she lost her final 20kg

Married At First Sight’s Jo McPharlin denied having weight loss surgery after being body-shamed and branded ‘too skinny’ by cruel Instagram trolls on Sunday.

The 42-year-old shared a video explaining that she’s been gradually losing weight for almost two years now, and there’s no secret behind her inspiring transformation.

Instead, she admits it’s down to cutting out junk food and alcohol, keeping active, and now using an electromagnetic muscle stimulation device to tone up.

Jo, who found fame on MAFS in 2018, admitted that she’s been reluctant to detail her weight loss as she’s ‘no expert’ and has no qualifications in health and fitness.

‘I am just a mum to two beautiful children. What works for me, may not work for you. I have been dedicated, strict and everything mentally I wanted to be,’ she began.

‘That’s how I’m achieving my goals. No surgery, no major story to it – it’s been bloody hard work, mentally and emotionally. Every single day I want certain food, but I look at my two beautiful children and I want a better quality of life for everybody.

‘I’ve stopped junk food, all of my carbs and the majority of alcohol. It’s a lifestyle change. I’ve been blessed with losing weight, but maintaining it is the hard part.’

The Adelaide mother spoke out after her most recent picture led to a handful of nasty comments branding her ‘too skinny’ and accusing her of having surgery.

Jo continued: ‘Everyone keeps saying, “Stop losing weight! Stop losing weight”. I haven’t lost weight in probably four months now. What I am doing is toning up.’

She admitted to following the ‘keto diet’ to help lose her final 20kg last year, but once again, did not promote this to followers, as she’s not a dietician.

The ketogenic diet revolves around cutting out carbohydrates from the diet.

Lastly, Jo detailed how she is now toning up her body after losing weight.

As well as walking for up to an hour and a half a day, she’s been using an MM Slimming device, which uses electromagnetic to stimulate muscles.

She said of the device, which she uses at a local beauty clinic: ‘I’m a little bit addicted! You sit there and it’s like 20,000 sit ups in half an hour.

‘As much as everyone is saying I’m skinny, I’m the same weight – I’ve just started to tone up, lose my bum and stomach. This machine is amazing.’
